Designing for Daniel & Nadia was a masterclass in intentional transitions—not just between ceremony and reception, but between cultures, traditions, and aesthetics. Held at the iconic Row 24 in Chicago, their celebration beautifully honored their diverse backgrounds while feeling cohesive, warm, and deeply personal.
Nadia, a South Indian Muslim bride, and Daniel, who is half White and half Chinese Singaporean, came to us with a heartfelt request: create a wedding that blended their cultures in a way that felt elegant and meaningful, without looking overly themed. They envisioned a space where South Asian and Chinese traditions could coexist naturally—and that’s exactly what we set out to design.
The ceremony began beneath a silk floral arch with an exposed frame—simple yet striking—set against a backdrop of glowing votives and floating Chinese lanterns. The palette leaned into fiery tones inspired by Chinese New Year, especially red, a symbol of joy and prosperity. These elements were intentionally carried throughout the entire event to maintain harmony in the space.
After the ceremony, our team did a quick yet impactful room flip. We added a plush sofa to the arch, transforming it into a regal sweetheart stage, and brought in guest tables styled with low floral arrangements and glowing candles. The lanterns and arch remained in place, seamlessly tying the reception to the earlier ceremony setup.
It was during this reception portion that the couple chose to honor Daniel’s heritage with a traditional tea ceremony. It was beautiful to witness such a meaningful moment take place in a space that reflected both of their stories—visually and emotionally.
Daniel & Nadia’s wedding wasn’t just a celebration of love—it was a thoughtful fusion of identity, tradition, and style. Proof that with intentional design and genuine storytelling, one space really can tell an entire love story from start to finish.
