For Mimi & Arun's reception at The Westin O'Hare, Afrin Designs set out to create a romantic garden inspired atmosphere filled with lush florals, statement greenery, candlelight, and thoughtful details. As a Chicago wedding designer specializing in South Asian wedding decor and luxury wedding receptions, our goal was to create a space that felt elegant, immersive, and unforgettable from the moment guests entered the ballroom.

Rather than relying on a single focal point, every design element was intentionally layered to create a cohesive experience that could be felt throughout the entire celebration.

One of the defining elements of this wedding reception was the use of greenery and natural textures to transform the ballroom into a romantic garden setting.

The vision was to create an environment that felt lush and inviting while maintaining the sophistication of a luxury wedding reception.

To bring the concept to life, we:

• Incorporated statement trees throughout the sweetheart stage design

• Layered florals in shades of blush, ivory, berry, and soft pink

• Added candlelight and suspended glass accents to create warmth and movement

• Balanced organic elements with elegant furnishings and refined details

By repeating these design elements throughout the ballroom, the entire reception felt connected, intentional, and immersive.

a Statement Sweetheart Stage with Florals and Greenery

The sweetheart stage served as the centerpiece of the reception and was designed to create an unforgettable first impression.

Framed by towering trees and abundant floral installations, the stage brought height, texture, and dimension to the room. Layers of blooms softened the overall design while suspended glass accents added visual interest and movement throughout the installation.

The combination of greenery, florals, and warm lighting created a backdrop that felt both intimate and grand, allowing the couple to remain at the center of the celebration while still complementing the overall ballroom design.

One of our favorite aspects of the stage was how seamlessly it connected to the rest of the reception decor, creating a natural flow throughout the space.

Every design element was selected to complement the overall aesthetic, including:
